  • Role Summary

    As a Warehouse Manager, you are responsible for planning, scheduling, supervising, and organizing all activities involved in directing and controlling warehouse operations at our 25,000 square foot facility in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.  The individual manages the warehouse staff and has full operational knowledge of activities related to receiving, storing, and distributing inventory.  Substantial tact, discretion, and good business judgment are required in representing the company as point of contact to clients, vendors, and all levels of employees. 

    What Will You Be Engaged In Day-To-Day?

    • Developing an operational plan to manage receiving, storage, and distribution of material, equipment, merchandise, and supplies in a warehouse facility.
    • Scheduling tasks, directing work assignments, measuring results, and recommending personnel actions.
    • Ensuring that incoming material is inspected against orders and specifications.  Arranging for return of defective material.
    • Arranging for periodic and special inventories and reconciling book inventories with physical counts.  Maintaining a tracking system to record stock levels and usage.  Ensuring that minimum stock levels are maintained.
    • Planning and coordinating the transfer of materials from and to the warehouse.
    • Maintaining and enhancing policies, procedures, and practices for managing the warehouse operation.
    • Ensuring compliance of OSHA requirements.
    • Remaining current on transportation rates and facilities for areas serviced by the warehouse.  Selecting and using those that consistently provide the best service.
    • Developing and recommending improvements in current warehouse practices to promote efficiency, faster service, and lower costs.
    • Planning and assigning work to warehouse staff.  Training employees.  Monitoring performance to ensure satisfactory assignment progress.  Assisting in hiring new employees for open positions.
    • Assisting in preparing budgets and operating within approved budgets.
    • Maintaining accurate files and documentation of all contract deliverables, inventory reports, and audit reports.  Ensuring a high level of accuracy during Government inspections.
    • Performing other duties as assigned.

    What Qualifications Will Help You Succeed?

    • A B.S. or B.A. degree is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.  Supervisory experience is required.  Previous experience working in the government contracting industry is preferred.
    • The position requires comprehensive knowledge of shipping, receiving, auditing, inventory control, and familiarity with the types of items maintained in the warehouse. 
    • PC literacy and demonstrated experience in maintaining an automated inventory and control system are needed.
    • The incumbent must be able to work independently and possess above average written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills, initiative and follow-through, and flexibility and responsiveness to changing requirements and conditions. 
    • The ability to identify and resolve problems in a team environment is needed. 
    • The individual must be able to work under pressure in completing tasks in a timely, accurate manner. 
    • The position requires a high degree of professionalism in day-to-day interactions with staff, clients, and vendors.
